Kokua: Giving Back to the Islands

A Responsibility to Care for the Land We Love

The Hawaiian Islands are more than just a breathtaking place to celebrate love—they are a living, breathing home to generations of people, wildlife, and natural wonders. As someone who has been blessed to live and create art in these sacred spaces, I believe in honoring and protecting them for future generations.

Hawaiian culture embraces the concept of kuleana—reminding us of our responsibility to care for the land, the ocean, and the people who call this place home.

Reciprocity is at the heart of everything: not taking without giving something back. This is why I’ve woven kokua—the spirit of care and contribution—into my work as a wedding artist.

Every couple who commissions a painting is invited to be part of this deeper mission. Through your support, we are giving back to the islands that give us so much.

How We Give Back

Every wedding painting commission helps support the land, ocean, and local communities of Hawai‘i in three key ways:

01.

Restoring the Native Forest

Every couple will have a native tree planted in their honor through the Waikoloa Dry Forest Initiative. This tree will have GPS coordinates and a certificate, allowing you to see exactly where your gift is growing.

02.

Protecting Hawaii’s Marine Life

Each commission contributes to the adoption of a honu (green sea turtle) through the Hawaii Wildlife Fund. You'll receive an adoption certificate, helping to fund rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation efforts for these incredible creatures.

03.

Preserving Our Oceans

I personally donate 2% of all my income to ocean conservation through Oceana, an organization dedicated to protecting marine ecosystems and advocating for clean, thriving oceans.

Supporting the Local Community

Caring for Hawaii also means supporting the people who live here.

KAMA‘ĀINA DISCOUNT

I offer a 10% discount to full-time Hawaii residents and Hawaiian ohanas, recognizing the importance of making art accessible to those who call these islands home.

PARTNERING WITH LOCAL BUSINESSES

Whenever possible, I collaborate with Hawaii-based artisans, framers, and suppliers to ensure that my work also supports the island’s economy.

Why This Matters

Hawaii is not just a destination—it is a home, a culture, and a way of life. By choosing to celebrate your love here, you become part of its story.

Through your wedding painting, you’re not only preserving a moment—you’re giving back to the land and the life that surrounds it.

Mahalo for your kokua, and for honoring this place we are so fortunate to experience together.
